Early Watercolour Sketches of Hong Kong

Ladder Street

(12" x 16")

This is one of the most familiar street scenes in Hong Kong, depicting a street in the hilly island of Victoria that is so steep that it has steps all the way, hence the name "Ladder". The rickshaws are rarely seen nowadays, but the sidewalk vendors and the lively pedestrian traffic remained virtually unchanged over the years.

Aberdeen (Boat Village)

(16" x 20")
Another familiar scene in Hong Kong is that of the fishing village at Aberdeen, on the south-west side of the island. Before there were any high-rises in the area, hundreds of people lived off the sea, in their little fishing boats, making a picturesque floating village.
